Sprints – Letter To Self

Sprints’ first album, “Letter To Self”, is a perfect way to get familiar with a band which embodies the spirit of youth with passion and deep emotions. The Dublin group combines sophisticated post-punk sound and torrents of punk-noise with mainland Continental feel – they did not invent anything revolutionary, and yet it sounds very new. On songs such as “Damn” and “The Cheek”, singers Karla Chubb experiments with the topics of independence and expectations from society. The production too suits their high-energy delivery but ensures that there’s enough space for the music to move and groove. As evident from the danceable, textured music on “Letter To Self,” Sprints are not a band to be dismissed as imposters in the current Irish guitar scene.
